Algarve Health and Social Care have been running regular training sessions for our care associates on a monthly basis via Zoom throughout the pandemic.
Training in healthcare enables team members to provide better basic care – for example, helping people dress, getting out of bed and bathe. We also focus on aspects of care such as administering medication, Personal Care, physical and long-term conditions, end of life care, promoting dignity, basic nutrition and hydration and many other subjects.
We provide training to teach associates how to recognise signs of suspected abuse.
The number of people aged over 65 is expected to increase by more than 50% over the next 20 years, and there are likely to be more people living with complex conditions who require specialist care services.
This means our ageing population will increasingly be relying on flexible, trained carers, who have the skills and underpinning knowledge to provide quality, compassionate care in the short, medium and long-term.
